Why We Started Mysa Around This Idea
Mysa began with a simple, uncomfortable observation. The gifting industry moves fast, but it rarely remembers or fairly pays the people who actually make the products.
We wanted to build something different: not a gifting brand that happened to be handmade, but a livelihood model for women artisans in our village that happened to take the shape of beautiful, giftable products.
Every Mysa toy, textile piece, or gifting item starts with fabric, often leftover or upcycled, that a woman artisan cuts and stitches entirely by hand. A single handcrafted toy can take her several hours, sometimes spread across more than one day, from first cut to final stitch. That is not inefficient. It is the actual cost of something a real person makes properly, instead of a machine.

How Is Sustainable Gifting Different From “Eco-Friendly Packaging”?
This is a question we get often, and it is worth answering clearly, because a lot of brands use “sustainable” loosely.
Sustainable gifting is not just about a paper bag instead of plastic. At Mysa, it runs through the entire product, not just its wrapping:
- The material: cotton fabric, much of it upcycled from textile waste that we would otherwise discard.
- The process: hand-cut, hand-stitched, no factory line, no mass production.
- The packaging: no plastic anywhere in the journey, from fabric to the box that carries it to you.
A product only qualifies as genuinely sustainable gifting when all three of these hold true, not just the last mile of packaging.
